Karen D. Holkeboer, age 69, of Holland, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011, at Hospice House of Holland. Born in Holland on November 8, 1941, Karen was the daughter of Carl and Agnes Andreasen. She was a graduate of Holland High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Hope College. She was a third grade teacher at Pine Creek Elementary in the West Ottawa school district. Karen volunteered at the Holland City Mission soup kitchen and was a member of Fellowship Reformed Church. She spent time playing tennis and golf and enjoyed pottery, painting, traveling and sailing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl (Huck) Holkeboer, in 2010;

a sister, Joan Lalley in 1990; and a brother-in-law, Bill Lalley Sr. in 2009. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Holkeboer of Jenison, Julie and Tracy Hardy of Waterford; one granddaughter, Ashley Mokma; two stepgrandsons, Justin and Matthew Hardy; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Fellowship Reformed Church, 300 N. 168th Avenue in Holland. Reverend James Baar and Reverend Megan Hodgin will be officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Holland or Fellowship Reformed Church. Arrangements are by Northwood Chapel–Dykstra Funeral Home.
